Qualified NDT for industry, energy, defense and marine
Inspekt offers qualified non-destructive testing (NDT) in both Sweden and Norway. Through our operations, we combine technical expertise, certified personnel, modern testing methods, and documented quality processes to deliver reliable inspections to the industry.
In Sweden, Inspekt NDT performs within the scope of our accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17025. In Norway, NDT operations are conducted within a certified quality management system according to ISO 9001 and with qualified and certified NDT personnel.
NDT makes it possible to examine materials, components, and welded joints without damaging or affecting their continued usability. The methods are used, among other things, in manufacturing, installation, maintenance, repair, and periodic inspection.
NDT methods
Our NDT services include the following methods within the applicable accreditation scope:
Visual Testing (VT)
Visual testing is often the first step in the inspection of welds, components, and structures. The method is used to identify visible deviations such as cracks, corrosion, deformations, and weld defects.
Magnetic particle testing (MT)
Magnetic particle testing is used to detect cracks and other surface and near-surface flaws in ferromagnetic materials. The method is used, among other things, for the inspection of welds, steel structures, and machine components.
Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
Penetrant testing is used to detect small cracks, pores, and other defects open to the surface. The method can be used on many non-porous materials and is particularly useful where magnetic particle testing is not possible, such as on stainless steel and aluminum.
PT is used, among other things, for the inspection of welds, cast and machined components, and pressure equipment.
Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Ultrasound is used to detect and assess flaws inside materials and welded joints. The technique is also used for thickness measurement and condition monitoring of components subjected to, for example, corrosion or erosion.
Radiographic Testing (RT)
Radiographic testing is used to inspect welded joints and components using X-rays or gamma radiation. The method makes it possible to detect internal defects and provides a documented result that can be reviewed and saved for future follow-up.
RT is used, among other things, for the inspection of welded joints, pipe systems, pressure equipment, and cast components.
PAUT – Advanced technology as part of daily NDT operations
Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) is an advanced ultrasonic testing technique that provides detailed information about welds and components and enables both the detection, positioning, and evaluation of indications.
At Inspekt, we have long had the ambition to make PAUT more accessible to our customers and a natural part of modern NDT operations.
PAUT should not only be a method for the largest or most complicated projects. By building competence, equipment, and local availability, we can use the technology even in routine industrial operations where it provides a better technical and commercial alternative.
Depending on the application, PAUT can provide, among other things:
- high detection capability and detailed information about indications
- digital and traceable documentation
- effective inspection of welded joints
- ability to investigate complex geometries
- an alternative to radiography in certain applications
- better basis for assessment and continued operation
Our goal is simple: advanced NDT should be accessible NDT.
More NDT and material inspection services
TOFD – Time of Flight Diffraction
TOFD is an ultrasonic technique with high accuracy in detecting and sizing discontinuities. The method is often used together with PAUT when inspecting critical welded joints and pressure equipment.
TFM – Total Focusing Method
TFM is a further development in advanced ultrasonic testing that can create high-resolution images of materials and welded joints. The technique can be used for complex inspection tasks where detailed information about indications is important.
PMI – Positive Material Identification
PMI is used to verify material composition and ensure that the correct material has been used.
With portable equipment, materials can be identified directly on-site without the need to dismantle the component. PMI is used, for example, on piping systems, valves, flanges, pressure vessels, welding materials, and other components where correct material grade is critical.
Eddy Current Testing (ET)
ET is used to detect surface and near-surface defects in electrically conductive materials. The method is suitable for, among other things, the inspection of tubes, heat exchangers, and other components where high sensitivity and efficient testing are required.
Corrosion mapping and scanning
Corrosion mapping
Individual thickness measurements provide information about the material at a specific point. When a larger area needs to be assessed, Inspekt can instead use corrosion mapping to create a more detailed picture of the material's actual condition.
Through systematic or automated ultrasonic measurement, we can map variations in wall thickness and identify localized corrosion, erosion, and material loss.
The result can be presented as a digital thickness map and provide the customer with a better basis for, for example, continued operation, repair, maintenance, and future follow-up.
Bottom and wall scanning of cisterns and tanks
Inspekt performs scanning and thickness mapping of tank bottoms, storage tank walls, and other large surfaces.
By collecting a large number of measurement points, we can create a significantly more comprehensive picture of the structure's condition than with traditional spot measurements. The method can identify areas of localized material loss and help the client focus further investigations and measures where they are actually needed.
Quality assured NDT in Sweden and Norway
Sweden – Accredited NDT according to ISO/IEC 17025
Inspekt Sweden AB NDT operations are accredited by SWEDAC in accordance with SS-EN ISO/IEC 17025.
The accreditation entails an independent assessment of our competence to perform the testing activities included in our accredited scope. The requirements include, among other things, staff competence, equipment, testing methods, calibration, documentation, and quality assurance.

Norway – NDT according to ISO 9001 and established NDT requirements
Inspekt Norway AS performs NDT within the framework of a quality management system certified according to ISO 9001.
The work is carried out according to documented procedures and applicable standards by qualified and certified NDT personnel. Depending on the assignment, industry, and customer requirements, we work in accordance with relevant requirements within, among others, ISO 9712, Nordtest, and applicable product and testing standards.
It provides our customers with a structured and quality-assured NDT delivery with clear processes for competence, equipment, execution, reporting, and documentation.
Qualified NDT personnel
Our NDT inspections are performed by qualified and certified personnel with competence tailored to the current testing method, product, and industrial sector.
The staff works in accordance with applicable requirements for personnel certification, including ISO 9712/Nordtest where relevant.
Through the combination of formal NDT competence and extensive practical experience, we can support our customers in areas such as welding, manufacturing, the process industry, pressure equipment, piping systems, energy, marine, and offshore.
