Testing that ensures quality from raw material to finished construction

The properties of the materials are crucial for quality, function, and lifespan in construction and civil engineering projects.

Inspekt's geotechnical laboratory offers testing, analysis and quality control of aggregates, rock materials, asphalt and concrete. We help producers, contractors, and clients verify that materials and products meet specified requirements and maintain the right quality – from raw materials and production to the finished construction.

Through laboratory testing and technical expertise, we create a reliable basis for product control, CE marking, quality follow-up, and technical decisions.

    Ballast and aggregates

    Inspection of material properties

The properties of aggregate affect the quality of everything from unbound layers to asphalt and concrete.

Inspekt performs laboratory testing to determine and verify properties of sand, gravel, ballast and crushed rock.

Testing can be used for, among other things:

    • quality control of ballast
    • unbound applications
    • asphalt aggregate
    • concrete aggregate
    • production control
    • verification against specified requirements
    • documentation for CE marking

Through regular testing, variations in materials and production can be identified before they affect the final product.

Sieve analysis & particle size distribution

The right material starts with the right composition

The particle size distribution is an important parameter for assessing the properties of the aggregate and its suitability for various applications.

Through sieve analysis, we determine the particle size distribution of the material and can verify that it meets specified requirements.

We also perform, among other things:

    • sight analysis
    • determination of particle size distribution
    • agility index
    • quality control of different aggregate fractions

The results are used, among other things, for production control and classification of materials for construction and civil engineering purposes.

      Wear and durability testing

How much load can the material handle?

During their service life, ballast and aggregates are subjected to mechanical loading, abrasion, and degradation.

Inspekt performs testing to assess the material's wear resistance and mechanical strength.

Testing provides an important basis for the selection and verification of materials for, for example:

      • road construction
      • asphalt
      • concrete
      • bear garlic
      • other demanding civil engineering structures

      Density testing

Density is an important parameter in the classification and quality control of aggregate.

Inspekt performs density testing of ballast for use in, among other things:

      • asphalt
      • concrete
      • construction and civil engineering materials

Results can be used both for production control and as a basis for further material testing and proportioning.

        Concrete testing

From fresh concrete to verified strength

The quality of the concrete is affected by the constituent materials, production, transport, casting, and curing.

Inspekt performs testing of both fresh and hardened concrete to verify that the material meets the specified requirements.

The testing can be used for:

        • production control
        • quality control on construction site
        • verification of concrete properties
        • strength check
        • investigation of non-conformances
        • follow-up of completed construction

By combining laboratory testing with Inspekt's other expertise in concrete, we can also contribute to more comprehensive condition assessments and damage investigations.

        Testing of fresh concrete

Inspection before the concrete has hardened

The properties of fresh concrete provide important information about the concrete's quality and its ability to achieve the desired end result.

The testing can be carried out as part of ongoing production control or in connection with specific projects and deliveries.

The results provide the opportunity to identify deviations early and create documentation of the concrete's properties before curing.

          Testing of hardened concrete

Verify the properties of the finished concrete

After curing, the concrete can be tested to verify its mechanical properties and quality.

The testing can be carried out on cast test specimens or material taken from existing structures.

Results can be used for, for example:

          • structural verification
          • production control
          • comparison against specified concrete class
          • quality follow-up
          • damage and deviation investigations

          Asphalt testing

Quality control from raw material to finished coating

The function and lifespan of the asphalt depend on both the properties of the raw materials and the quality of the produced asphalt mix.

Inspekt performs testing of fresh and cured asphalt as well as the ballast material used in production.

The testing can be used for:

          • production control
          • quality follow-up
          • verification against specified requirements
          • raw material inspection
          • asphalt testing
          • investigation of non-conformances

It gives both the producer and the client a documented basis to ensure the correct quality.

            CE marking & production control

            Documented quality throughout production

Manufacturers and producers of construction products and materials need to be able to demonstrate that their products meet relevant requirements.

Inspekt helps customers with testing and documentation as a basis for product control and CE marking.

Through recurrent testing, we can support the customer's production control and verify that the material properties are within established requirements.

It creates traceability and provides both producer and customer with a reliable basis for quality assurance.

            Sample preparation

The right test is the basis for the right result

A reliable test result requires correct sampling and sample preparation.

Inspekt handles test material prior to laboratory testing and can, among other things, perform:

            • crushing of sample material
            • enclosure
            • sorting
            • screening
            • preparation of sample copies

Sample preparation is adapted to the material, testing method, and requirements applicable to the examination.

Greater expertise in concrete and infrastructure

Inspekt's strength is that laboratory testing can be combined with our other services within concrete, materials science, and technical inspection.

This means that we can help the customer through a significantly larger part of the chain:

Raw material → Production control → Laboratory testing → Finished product → Inspection → Condition assessment

For a concrete structure, this may involve, for example, laboratory testing of aggregate and concrete during production and later inspection of the finished structure with ultrasound, GPR, core samples, drones, ROV and other inspection methods.

In this way, Inspekt can contribute with quality assurance throughout the entire lifecycle of the construction.
