Class NDT

Classification society approved NDT services

Inspekt performs non-destructive testing (NDT) for marine and offshore-related applications as an approved NDT supplier for leading classification societies, including DNV, RINA, and ABS.

Our classification society approvals cover NDT services performed in accordance with the requirements of the respective classification society. We perform NDT inspections during new construction, repair, maintenance, and modification of ships, offshore units, marine equipment, and other class-related structures.

    Approved NDT supplier

Inspekt is an approved NDT supplier for:

    • DNV
    • RINA
    • ABS

Our approvals confirm that Inspekt meets the requirements set by the respective classification societies for providers of NDT services.

Our class society approvals are separate from our ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and specifically cover NDT services for class-related projects.

    Class NDT methods

    Our Class NDT services include:

    Visual Testing (VT)
Visual inspection of components and welded joints to identify visible surface defects, welding irregularities, and other relevant indications.

    Magnetic particle testing (MT)
Detection of surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials.

    Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
Detection of surface-breaking discontinuities in suitable non-porous materials.

    Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Inspection of materials and welded joints using ultrasonic waves to detect and evaluate internal discontinuities.

    Radiographic Testing (RT)
Examination of welded joints and components using X-ray or gamma radiation to detect internal discontinuities.

    Eddy current testing (ET)
Electromagnetic testing to detect and assess surface and near-surface discontinuities and material anomalies in electrically conductive materials.

      Qualified and certified inspectors

Our NDT inspections are performed by qualified and certified NDT personnel with expertise tailored to the current testing method.

Staff qualifications are maintained in accordance with applicable certification requirements, including ISO 9712, as well as the requirements of the relevant classification society.

Our inspectors combine formal NDT qualifications with practical experience in welding, manufacturing, marine structures, piping systems, pressure equipment, and industrial inspection.

Support during the classification society's inspection process

NDT performed during new construction, repair, and modification of ships constitutes an important part of the technical documentation reviewed by classification societies.

Inspekt collaborates with shipyards, shipowners, technical consulting firms, repair yards, and other project stakeholders to perform NDT in accordance with applicable classification requirements.

We coordinate inspection scopes, methods, testing activities, and reporting requirements to ensure that NDT results are properly documented for the project.

When required, Inspekt also witnesses tests and quality control activities as a representative of the classification society. This includes witnessing specified tests and inspections, verifying compliance with applicable requirements, and documenting the results for inclusion in the classification society's inspection process.
