Ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM)
Perform inspection Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement (UTM) to assess the remaining wall thickness and detect material loss caused by, among other things, corrosion and erosion.
UTM is an important part of Class Renewal for ships and is used to document the remaining thickness of the hull and other structural components prior to the class survey.
Our staff is not only technically qualified for UTM, but also extensive experience in ship design, hulls, and other marine structures. We have a good understanding of the class's technical requirements and can adapt the inspection according to, among other things, vessel type, age, construction and current class requirements.
Ultrasonic thickness measurement is a non-destructive testing method used to determine the remaining thickness of metallic components.

Classification and IACS
Inspekt has experience with UTM inspections for class-related projects and is certified by 5 classification societies within IACS: Lloyd’s Register (LR), DNV, Bureau Veritas (BV), RINA and ABS.
IACS, International Association of Classification Societies, is an international association of classification societies that develops common technical rules and standards for, among other things, the design, construction, and maintenance of ships and other marine structures.

UTM is a essential part of the vessel's class renewal.
During class renewal, comprehensive information regarding the remaining thickness of the hull and structural components is required. Inspekt performs UTM in accordance with the requirements applicable to the specific vessel and its class.
