Welder certification, qualification testing and WPQR

Welder certification – We help you

Do you need to certify a welder, renew a welding certificate or qualify a welding procedure? Inspekt helps with welder qualification testing, certification and welding procedure qualification (WPQR). Specify the welding process, material, dimensions and applicable requirements so that we can plan testing and documentation for your assignment. Apply via WeldApp or contact us to discuss the arrangements.

We have a complete destructive testing laboratory where we can perform bend testing, macro testing, and break testing.  We work in accordance with ISO/TR 16060, EN ISO 9017, EN ISO 5173, and EN ISO 14555 regarding destructive testing.

What is welder certification?

It is a formal process that assesses and verifies a welder's ability to produce strong and approved welds according to specified procedures. The process includes:

  • Weld tests based on approved welding procedures (WPS).
  • Inspection and testing of test welds (VT, RT, UT, bend test, etc.).
  • Certification issued by qualified inspectors or third-party bodies.
  • Compliance with standards such as ISO 9606, ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, and EN 287.

Certified welders are essential in industries where safety, strength, and quality are critical factors, such as the oil and gas industry, power generation, construction, shipbuilding, and manufacturing.

What is procedure qualification?

Procedures are used to ensure that the method and material maintain the properties specified by a designer, for example. The procedure (WPQR) is used to create work instructions in the form of WPSs for welders. Inspekt has its own laboratory for destructive testing in connection with procedure qualifications.

Welding technology

Welding inspection according to NS477, IWT, IW, coordination and work related to this. Follows up welding processes and contributes to achieving established quality requirements.

Welding coordination, follow-up of welding procedures, assistance with welding-related challenges, and consulting. Collaboration with DNV when developing WPQR and other welding engineering services.

Benefits of welder certification

  • Ensures that welders meet work and regulatory requirements
  • Reduces the risk of weld-related defects and failures
  • Improves quality control and traceability
  • Increases manufacturing productivity and consistency
  • Supports compliance with ISO and EN standards

Welder qualification or WPQR – what do you need?

Welder qualification concerns a welder’s ability to perform a particular welding operation. Procedure qualification concerns the welding procedure to be used. When making an enquiry, please specify whether the assignment concerns personnel certification, a welding procedure, or both.
